In The Golden Compass, young Lyra Belacqua ventures into the far North to rescue her kidnapped friend and uncover a sinister plot. The film places parts of its fantasy adventure in real-world Arctic landscapes, capturing the dramatic atmosphere of Svalbard and the historic harbour city of Bergen, Norway.
