2012 – Svalbard

To the Arctic follows the intimate journey of a mother polar bear and her two seven-month-old cubs as they struggle to survive in a rapidly changing polar environment. The documentary captures rare, close-up moments of Arctic wildlife while highlighting the fragile balance of life on the sea ice.
The film draws heavily on the stark beauty of the high Arctic, using sweeping landscapes and remote wilderness imagery that reflect the reality of climate change in the polar regions. While much of the documentary was filmed across the Arctic Circle, it strongly evokes environments such as Norway’s Svalbard archipelago, one of Europe’s most iconic polar habitats.
