Spies Like Us

1985 – Sognefjord

Three people in fur coats shelter behind snow-covered rocks in Spies Like Us.

Spies Like Us

Two bumbling government employees are mistakenly sent on a covert mission, believing they are U.S. spies, only to discover they have actually been chosen as decoys in a Cold War plot where nuclear war looms large. The comedic adventure follows their misadventures across shifting global backdrops as they stumble through espionage chaos.

Norway played a role in representing Russian terrain in the film. Key scenes were filmed near Sogndal in Western Norway, where the dramatic fjord landscapes stood in for Soviet settings—a choice that leveraged Norway’s dramatic natural geography to heighten the sense of rugged, remote locale required by the story.
