2022 – Herøy and Sunnmøre

Based on Jo Nesbø’s bestselling novel Midnight Sun, The Hanging Sun is a noir thriller set in a remote part of Norway where religion dominates daily life and the sun never sets. As secrets surface in this isolated community, the story unfolds with growing tension beneath the endless daylight.
Norway’s dramatic coastal landscapes play a central role in establishing the film’s eerie atmosphere and sense of isolation. Filming in Herøy and across Sunnmøre brings striking realism to the setting, using the region’s unique light, rugged terrain, and remote character to heighten the story’s suspense and Nordic intensity.
