Ex Machina

A young programmer is selected to participate in a ground-breaking experiment in synthetic intelligence by evaluating the human qualities of a highly advanced humanoid A.I. as part of a Turing test, only to discover unsettling truths about consciousness, manipulation, and autonomy. Although much of the film was shot in the United Kingdom, key on-location scenes were filmed in Western Norway, and the Norwegian settings are among the movie’s most iconic visuals. Juvet Landscape Hotel (Valldalen, Møre og Romsdal) and Nigard Glacier & Briksdal (Vestland) These Norwegian locations helped give Ex Machina its distinctive visual identity — contrasting futuristic architecture with dramatic natural landscapes — and provided authentic, atmospheric settings that heighten the film’s psychological tension.
