Eight Below

2006 – Svalbard

Man in a red parka lying in snow beside huskies in an Arctic setting.

Eight Below

Eight Below follows a team of Antarctic explorers whose mission is cut short when brutal weather forces them to evacuate. Two guides are compelled to leave behind their sled dogs, who must endure the extreme cold and isolation alone while struggling to survive until rescue becomes possible.

Although set in Antarctica, the film relied on Arctic locations to recreate the frozen continent. Parts of the production were filmed in Svalbard, Norway, whose dramatic glaciers and polar terrain provided an authentic backdrop for the story’s harsh survival conditions.
