Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back (Episode V)

As the Galactic Empire intensifies its pursuit of the Rebel Alliance, Luke Skywalker begins his Jedi training while Princess Leia, Han Solo, and the remaining Rebels fight to survive relentless attacks across the galaxy. Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back is widely regarded as one of the most influential films in cinema history, expanding the saga’s emotional depth, narrative complexity, and visual ambition.

Norway played a pivotal role in shaping the film’s iconic look. The ice planet Hoth is home to the Rebel Alliance’s hidden base, and was filmed on location in Western Norway at Finse, near the Hardangerjøkulen Glacier.

The vast, snow-covered mountain plateau and reliable winter conditions provided an authentic Arctic environment that could not be replicated on sound stages. Principal photography took place in extreme weather, including heavy snowfall and sub-zero temperatures, giving the battle scenes a raw realism.
