Two Lives

2012 – Bergen and Osterøy

Film still from Two Lives showing a tense interrogation scene at a table.

Two Lives

As the Berlin Wall crumbles, Katrine — the daughter of a Norwegian woman and a German occupation soldier — sees her seemingly stable life unravel when she is asked to testify in a trial against the Norwegian state on behalf of other “war children.” What begins as a legal dispute soon becomes a tense personal reckoning with identity, history, and hidden truths.

Norway is central to the film’s atmosphere and historical context. The story is rooted in the legacy of children born from wartime relationships during the German occupation, and the Norwegian setting reinforces both the emotional weight and political tension of the case. Filming in Norway brings authenticity to the coastal and residential environments where Katrine’s life unfolds, grounding the thriller in a distinctly Norwegian reality shaped by post-war memory and national reckoning.
