The Quiet Roar

A 68-year-old woman, newly diagnosed with a terminal illness, seeks experimental therapy involving psilocybin and meditation. The treatment pulls her into a vivid inner journey where she confronts her 25-year-old self and her former husband.

Norway is not incidental here: the film’s key “memory landscape” is explicitly tied to a holiday in a stunning Norwegian setting, described as both idyllic and desolate—a mood that mirrors the protagonist’s confrontation with her past. The production was filmed in Western Norway (Vestlandet), specifically in the Rogaland region. This coastal part of Norway is known for wide open skies, rugged shorelines and dramatic terrain—natural elements that help give the film’s subconscious sequences a stark, elemental feel.
