2012 – Stavanger, Sola, Forsand, Sandnes and Gjesdal

In this Danish noir crime drama, police detective Sarah Lund investigates a series of complex murder cases with deep personal and political consequences, often exposing hidden motives and corruption as each case unfolds. The series helped define Nordic noir with its atmospheric tension and layered storytelling.
While The Killing is primarily a Danish production set in Copenhagen, its production occasionally filmed in Norway and the series is officially recognized as a co-production involving Norwegian entities (e.g., NRK) alongside Danish, Swedish, and German partners. According to the Norwegian Film Commission, some scenes — particularly exterior and transitional shots — were filmed on location in Southern Norway to support the series’ broader Scandinavian setting.
