The Bird Catcher

The Birdcatcher tells the story of Esther, a Jewish girl forced to conceal her identity by posing as a boy while hiding on a Nazi-occupied Norwegian farm. As she plans an escape to Sweden, every day becomes a test of survival, secrecy, and moral choice, with small decisions carrying life-altering consequences. The film grounds its wartime narrative in authentic Norwegian rural settings that reflect the isolation and tension of occupied Norway.
